The European Parliament debated the situation in the war-torn country and Věra Jourová, Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency, reported that the conflict in Sudan has generated displacement at levels unseen since the war in Syria where the internally displaced persons neared 10.9 million and about 2.2 million people have crossed the border into the neighboring countries.
Sudan’s health sector has been crippled by 18 months of fighting between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. The World Health Organization (WHO) says that there have been more than 100 attacks on healthcare facilities, leaving more than half of them out of service. The only functioning health center is located in Bahri, where the army has been regaining territories from the rapid support forces (RSF).
