Kosovo's central bank has begun phasing out the Serbian dinar for the euro. Belgrade has condemned the decision, while the US and EU have asked for it to be postponed, arguing that issues such as the euro becoming the sole official currency and the closure of Serbia-run 'parallel' structures necessitate EU-mediated dialogue.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Egypt and met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on the Gaza hostage deal and discussed a post-war Gaza plan. Cairo has warned that an Israeli deployment along the border would threaten the peace treaty the two countries signed over four decades ago. Egypt fears an expansion of combat to the Rafah area could push Palestinian civilians across the border, a scenario it has said Egypt is determined to prevent.
