A deadly Israeli strike on the village of Hebbariyeh, killing 17 people in southern Lebanon, led to Hezbollah launching dozens of rockets at Kiryat Shmona, an Israeli town over the south of the border. The escalation raises fears about an open front in Lebanon.
Overnight Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon are reported to have killed at least nine people – including four fighters from the armed group Hezbollah. Its ally the Amal movement said it lost two of its members. Hezbollah has repeatedly said it will not stop attacking Israel until a ceasefire begins in Gaza.
