US Delivers F-16 Jets
SLOVAKIA

The United States delivered the first two F-16 jets, the US-made 'fighting falcons', after a two-year delay caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a global chip shortage. The remaining planes will be delivered gradually over the next two years. The Slovak government sent 13 MiG-29s to Ukraine last year, becoming the second NATO member to respond to Ukraine's request for military aircraft to defend against Russia's invasion. NATO member countries Poland, Czechia, and Hungary have taken on the responsibility of patrolling Slovakia's airspace in the absence of its aircraft.

AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijan rejects EU's $10.8M military aid package for Armenia as ‘erroneous and dangerous’ step. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Aykhan Hajizada stated that “Following the steps taken by France to equip Armenia with ‘Bastion’ multi-purpose armored vehicles and ‘Caesar’ self-propelled artillery systems, the European Union’s decision to send military aid to Armenia is an erroneous and dangerous step that serves to increase tension in the region."

HUNGARY

EU's top diplomat, Josep Borrell is hosting a strategic EU meeting in Brussels, instead of the previously designated Budapest, to boycott the Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban's newly-assumed EU presidency that shocked all EU circles with a heavily-protested set of "peace talks". Orban's unwarned, unchecked, and unaffirmed outreach to a series of NATO-countering groups was perceived as an attempt to "bypass the bloc".
