After five days considering its next move, Israel launched an attack on Iran in the early hours of this morning. The target was an airbase near the central city of Isfahan. There has been no confirmation yet from Tel Aviv - but U.S. officials say Israel launched a retaliatory strike against Iran overnight. So far, no casualties or damage have been confirmed. The US keeps silent on the alleged IDF strike inside Iran, in an apparent effort to de-escalate tensions.

US nonprofit the Center for Truth and Justice (CFTJ) is petitioning the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the ongoing genocide it believes is being perpetrated by Azerbaijan's armed forces against ethnic Armenians. The filing includes a dossier containing extensive evidence it collected documenting a vast array of crimes, including deliberate killings of civilians, torture, sexual abuse, and extrajudicial executions.
In the run-up to the February 7 presidential elections, repression had increased in Azerbaijan, a former Soviet republic in the Caucasus that borders Iran and Armenia. Any opposition to President Ilham Aliyev was silenced. Human rights activists, journalists, and political opponents were on the receiving end of the regime's wrath daily. France 24 issued a documentary listing human rights violations of Ilham Aliyev's government.

The Croatian city of Vukovar, on the banks of the Danube, has a painful past. Located on the border with Serbia, it was the scene of the first major battle in the 1990s Balkan wars. Four years before the genocide in Srebrenica and eight years before the war in Kosovo, Vukovar was the first city in the former Yugoslavia to suffer ethnic cleansing, in 1991. More than 30 years later, reconciliation between local Serbs and Croats is hindered by impunity for war crimes and the inability to agree on a common version of events.
