US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visits Israel, meeting President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, cautioning them to provide a civilian-shielding offensive on Rafah. He mentioned that the US still has not seen a plan for Israel's planned offensive and that without it Washington could not support such an assault. Blinken also urged Israel for an improvement in the distribution of humanitarian aid in to Gaza. On the Hamas side of the conflict, the US pressures the terror group to agree to Israel's terms.

Protesting a 'foreign agents' bill, that gets dubbed as 'Russian Law', pro-EU-minded masses in Georgia clashed with police in riots that led to 63 people being detained and 6 police officers being injured. The police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse protesters who rallied outside the country’s parliament. The bill requires media and non-commercial organizations to register as being under foreign influence when they get over 20% of their funding from abroad.

Georgia is at a political crossroads. There is widespread anger on the streets over a bill that seeks to curb foreign funding of non-governmental organizations. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze says it is necessary to block external influences. But protesters say the legislation would silence critics of the government, ahead of parliamentary elections in October. European leaders have also criticized the bill, which feeds the concern that the crisis will undermine Goergia's ambition to join the European Union.

Northern Kosovo is home to a large part of the country's Serb minority. For a long time, this region, which is contiguous with Serbia, operated under the Serbian administrative system, despite Kosovo's independence from Belgrade. But since taking power in 2021, Kosovo's new government has been much tougher on Serbia and the Serb population of Kosovo. Prime Minister Albin Kurti is trying to impose definitive separation from Serbia on the region's Serb population.

Egypt put forth a new proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, but Israel refused to send a delegation to Cairo. The meeting was held regardless, with the French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne making a surprise visit to Cairo. France has three dual-nationals still held hostage by Hamas and has worked closely with Cairo on providing humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.
As Egypt revived stalled Gaza negotiations between Israel and Hamas, the ceasefire talks brought in France's foreign minister Stephane Sejourne who arrived in Cairo on an unscheduled stop during his Middle East tour. Having met officials in Lebanon last week, Sejourne puts forth France's historical ties with Lebanon to use them to calm Hezbollah.
